Edwin Berkely Amosson was born September 20,1916, in Boone Township, Wright County, the son of Amos and Julia Jergensen Amosson. He attended school in Boone Township.
He was engaged in farming all his working life. Edwin was united in marriage to Charlotte Pletcher of Clarion on June 1, 1941, at her home in rural Clarion. The couple lived and farmed in the Eagle Grove-Clarion area, until Eddie retired in 1981. He still maintained an active interest in the operation of the farm, and they were living in the farm home when he became ill, and was taken to the Hamilton County Hospital, Webster City, after suffering a heart attack on January 5,1988.
Eddie Amosson died January 8,1988, at the age of 71 years, three months, and 18 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edwin Amos; brothers, Duane, Sam, Harold, and Donald; and a sister, Gladys Jotten.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Jennifer Joy) Slater, Eagle Grove; three brothers, Glen, Clear Lake; Orville, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Richard, Hardy; three grandchildren, Amanda, Jonathan, and Rachel Slater; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Bertha) Hanson, Belmond; and Mrs. Clifford (Rozella) Anderson, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Eddie was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove and the Farm Bureau.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 11, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. The Rev. Paul Schaedig officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
