Mrs. McGee and her husband Robert had six children, a daughter named Jane McGee who stayed behind in Ireland, and was the wife of the Reverend Charles Young. Though Jane and Charles stayed in Ireland, at least two of their children immigrated to America, James and John Young.

Mrs. McGee and Robert also had five sons who would later immigrate to America with them, these sons are known as "The Five McGee Brothers from Ireland."

1. John McGee married Mary McCoun
2. Robert McGee married Jane Haven (His name is NOT Robert Furman or Robert Thomas)
3. James McGee married "Molly"
4. David McGee married Jean Robinson
5. William McGee died unmarried without issue

Timeline:
Immigration to America

In circa 1756 Mrs. McGee, her husband Robert McGee and their young sons immigrated to America. The family first settled in Virginia, where Robert and his wife purchased land and most probably built a cabin to live in, the land was likely on the North Roanoke, in the Catawba Creek area near or adjoining the lands that their son Robert McGee later purchased. All or at least the younger McGee sons probably lived with them at this time as they would still have been to young to be on their own.

** There are several more records for Mrs. McGee's husband Robert McGee between 1756 and 1765 but nothing found after that point, so it is not known if Mrs. McGee's husband Robert passed away or not. The last record for him was in 1765 when he was declared exempt from Levy do to old age.

Circa 1775 the McGees or at least Mrs. McGee, (Robert's wife) moves to Kentucky with son David McGee.

Between the years of 1775 and 1779 Mrs. McGee lived at Boonesborough while her son David McGee establishes the "David McGee Station" in circa 1779/80.

1780 Mrs. McGee lives with her son David at his McGee station.

1780 in a public lawsuit, the court transcripts have one John Plankenstalver quoted as saying that he talked with David MGee's mother in 1780 she talked with him about her "son David's land and Improvements."

It is not known when Mrs. McGee died but because of the above record we know it was after 1780.

Note: This woman's name (Mrs. McGee), is NOT Elizabeth Stokley or Ann DeJarnet. The research in both Ireland and the USA by Bill and Jerry McGee, has proven that the parents of the Five McGees was Robert McGee and his Irish wife Mrs. Unknown McGee.

The parents of the Five McGee brothers was NOT a John and Elizabeth or John and Ann DeJarnet. These people do not exist, Ann DeJarnet is a myth! The DeJarnet family is French, the McGees are Irish. There are no sources or documents to show that Ann DeJarnet ever existed. Jean (John) DeJarnet, is said to be the supposed father of Ann DeJarnet and while there are records to document his other children there are none for Ann and she is not named in records as one of the children of Jean DeJarnet. In fact there are no records at all to show that Ann DeJarnet ever existed and she was absolutely NOT the mother of the McGee children or the wife of Robert.

*** Mrs. McGee came to America from Ireland with her husband and sons.

It could be that with time, and more research we will one day prove who this woman was, learn her name, and her Irish ancestry.

Mrs. McGee's name and McGee naming Patterns

While we do not know what Mrs. McGee's name is, we do know that the McGee's followed a naming pattern that can be traced back to the first documented ancestor and passed down then after, David, John, James, George, Robert, William, repeat. In each generation we see a pattern of these same names. We can assume this same naming pattern applies to the women in the family and in fact we have seen it with the naming of the McGee daughters, the same female names repeat down from generation to generation. What this indicates is that is very probable and highly likely that Mrs. McGee's first name is one of the more repeated names that has been carried down through her female granddaughters, and there lies the problem, which name? It is important to point out that in many European families both of the names Ann and Elizabeth were very popular and very common, however that is NOT the case in the McGee family, that is not to say that these two names were not used, John named a daughter Ann and James named a daughter Elizabeth but these names were not repeated and passed down, the most common female names used in this family and passed down from generation to generation were, Jane, Rachel, Mary "Molly" and Margaret "Peggy".
