Hard working hands were put to rest, when Henry John Preimesberger, Jr. went home to his Lord on July 11, 2019. Henry was born March 3, 1927 in Pierz, Minnesota to Henry and Ottilia (Merkling) Preimesberger. Henry served his country in the Merchant Marines and earned the Pacific War Zone Bar. He married Dolores Bieganek of Harding, MN, on May 30, 1950, and together they raised a family of 13. His passions in life were his family and work. He enjoyed baseball, bowling, horseshoes, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed his sweets and a cold “bottled” beer! Henry owned and operated Preimesberger Lumber Company in Genola, MN, which his father established in 1950.
Henry‘s dream was to bring the World Horseshoe Tournament to Genola. So, Preimesberger Arena was eventually constructed, where local and state tournaments were held. In 1981, the World Horseshoe Tournament took place. In that same year, Henry Preimesberger Family received the prestigious National Horseshoe Pitchers Association Stokes Award. Henry and Dolores were elected into the Minnesota Horseshoe Hall of Fame in 1982. Henry was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz.
Henry was preceded in death by his son, Henry John III; son-in-law, Bruce Heigl; grandson, Aaron; parents, Henry and Ottilia Preimesberger; brothers, Alby, Rod, Joseph, Patrick, James, Art and sisters, Mildred, Lea, Rita and Esther.
