He served in the Army during World Ward II, storming the Beaches of Normandy and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart during his heroic service in WWII.
He was a farmer and held a few other jobs during his lifetime. in Lea County, New Mexico, specifically in the Hobbs area.
His first wife was Faye Campbell Hennington. His second wife was Wonita Proctor Hennington. Floyd did not have any children.
Floyd had a fun life. He had a sense of humor that could have everyone rolling on the floor laughing. There was never a dull moment when he was around.
He passed away in the New Mexico Veterans Home in Truth or Consequsences, New Mexico, at 95 years of age. The area of the facility in which he lived was brand new. He was the only one to live in his room. The facility is very beautiful and he loved the area he was in. Floyd would spend time in the day room , visited with other residents and watch TV while relaxing there. There seemed to be a couple of the ladies who enjoyed hanging around him all the time. He was very happy there. One nephew and his wife would bake macaroons and coconut pie and take to him that he really enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd & Myrtle, siblings Geneva, Glenn, T.C. Juanita, Doris, Viola (Pokey), Billy and Leona. He has one brother and two sisters and many nieces and nephews as survivors.
Floyd's cremains are buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Hobbs, NM.
