Viola W. Siems, 95, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Trinity Hospital in Muscatine.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 21, at Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Church or the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 21, at Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.
Viola Wilhelmina Stock was born January 9, 1916, in Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Theodore and Alvina (Mangels) Stock. She married Ray William Siems on July 25, 1936 in Davenport. She worked at Peter Pan Bakery and Wonder Bread Bakery for many years. Ray preceded her in death on June 7, 1983. She loved to cook and play cards with her friends. She was in several card clubs. She also loved to play Yahtzee with family and friends. She was a member of the Moose, Royal Neighbors and a lifelong member of St. Mark's Church.
Surviving are one son, Clifton (Sally) Siems; two granddaughters, Candace Broders and Lisa (Marty) Orwitz; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Broders, Nicholas Broders, Olivia Orwitz, Mick Orwitz and Natalie Orwitz; one great-great-granddaughter, Jordan Broders; two sisters, Dorothy Siems and Edna Pierce; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, Curtis Siems, one grandson-in-law, Patrick Broders, four brothers, Elmer Stock, Harold Stock, Alvin Stock and Raymond Stock, and two sisters, Florence Cawiezell and Bernice Kleppe.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caretakers, Lelia Nichols and Angelia Ewart, and also to Joyce and Warren Wilder for giving her communion.
