T.J. Stock, Wilton Farmer, Is Dead At 73

Theodore, J.H. Stock, 73, of R.R. No. 2, Wilton, died at 6:15 a.m. (CST) today in his home after a brief illness.

Born on the Isle of Fehmarn, Germany, Mr. Stock came to this country in 1903. He married the former Alvina Mangels in December, 1910 in Chicago. The couple had farmed in North Dakota for 10 years, and later in Scott County for 13 years. They had been engaged in farming in Cedar County for the last 26 years.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. E.J. (Florence) Caziewell and Mrs. Robert L. (Edna) Pierce, both of Tipton, Mrs. Ray (Viola) Simms, and Mrs. Norman (Bernice) Kleppe, both of Davenport, and Mrs. William (Dorothy) Siems, Durant; four sons, Elmer and Alvin Stock, both of Davenport, Harold Stock, Donahue, and Raymond Stock, Harrison, Iowa; 28 grandchildren; a brother, William Stock, Davenport; and a number of brothers and sisters in Germany.

The body was taken to the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Theodore J. Stock was the son of Heinrich Ahrend August "Henry" Stock and Matilde Wilhelmine (Witt) Stock. On 3 December 1910 he married Alvina Caroline Mangels in Chicago, Illinois. Theodore's mother (Matilde Wilhelmine (Witt) Stock) and his wife's mother (Bertha Wilhelmina (Witt) Mangels) were sisters, which also makes Theodore and Alvina first cousins. While his parents and a few siblings remained in Germany, Theodore had two brothers who also lived in Iowa: William Henry Stock (71197200) and George Carl Stock (189712624).
