Ella had been more or less confined to bed for two years prior to her death. According to her death certificate, she actually died of a heart attack. Her funeral services were held at her home by the Rev. Clay Madison and Rev. L.A. Miller.
She was also survived by her daughters Mrs. A.L. Rink (Pearl); Mrs. H.W. McNeely with whom she lived; Mrs. R.M. McLean;and Mrs. J.B. Hood; one son, F.M. Lafevers; brothers: the Rev. W. Kelley Houk of Morganton;and Jerome "Sidney" Houck of Ojai, California.
