Raymond C. Prescott, 67, died unexpectedly Oct. 16, 2007. He was born Feb. 1, 1941, in Island Falls, the son of Ray and Iva (Desmond) Prescott. Ray graduated from Island Falls High School and later attended Ricker College. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After his discharge, Ray went to work for National Cash Register Co. and from there entered the computer-programming field as manager of Northeastern Computer Center, Bangor. In 1972, Ray relocated his family to Island Falls to begin a 19-year employment with Katahdin Trust Co., retiring in 1991 as president and CEO. He was a very active member of his community during these years, working with a variety of volunteer programs. He was very instrumental in bringing a volunteer ambulance service to his community. Friends will remember many such community projects that benefited from Ray's insight and hard work. Ray is survived by his wife, Susan (Berry) Prescott of Island Falls; three sons, Kevin and his wife, Claire, Tim, and Jon and his wife, Patricia; six grandchildren, Brian, Amy, Katherine, Thomas, William and Claire; sisters, Verna MacArthur and Hilda Clukey of Island Falls, Doris York of Crystal, Patricia Mayer of East Lebanon and Hazel Stillings of San Antonio; a brother, Kenneth Prescott of Crystal; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Marion Sewall, Dorothy Porter, Margaret Anderson and Rita MacArthur; and a brother, Ronald. At Ray's request the family will hold a private service at Whittier Congregational Church, Island Falls. Donations in Ray's name may be made to Whittier Congregational Church, where he was a longtime member; Island Falls Recreation Department; or to Island Falls Ambulance Service, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
