Richard Silver Brown Sr., Sullivan, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 1995, at LaPorte.
He was born July 9, 1896 in Sullivan County to Cuspreth Jewell and Martha Jane Scott Brown. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Parks Brown, who died in 1994; one daughter, Mary Frances Brown; two brothers, Clint Brown and Carl Brown; and six sisters, Effie Gruver, Daisy Dudley, Clara Clem, Goldie Nesbitt, Viola Caulk and Stella Wardell.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Brown Jr., Sullivan, James E. Brown, Longview, Wash., and Ralph L. Brown, Ticonderoga, N.Y.; five daughters, Dorothy Dillingham, Bloomington, Shirley Moore, LaPorte, Jo Engle, Elkhart, and Barbara Carty and Linda Deckard, both of Sullivan; one sister, Lula Wesner, Sullivan, 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Banks and Brust Funeral Home with the Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial is at Center Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday.
