Israel Heath McComas was born on April 16, 1848 in Platte Co Missouri and died in the first few minutes of December 24, 1925 in his home in Yukon, OK aged 77 yrs, 8 mos and 8 days. In 1901 he moved from Platte County to this community, where he has since resided, excepting the years spent in Texas. On Dec 20 1870 he was married to Mary Elizabeth Miller, who still survives. To this union there were born eleven children, one of whom, Mrs. A.A. Robertson, preceded her father in death, being transformed to the life eternal on Oct 25, 1912. The living children are Ed McComas of Yukon, Leonard of Guymon, William of Minco, Mrs. Myrtle Shields of Wellington, TX, Mrs. Ora Shacklett of El Reno, Mrs. Harry Fleck of Yukon, Sam McComas of Hoxie, Ark, Grover McComas of Minco, Mrs. Julia Spicer of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Grace Newcomb of Range, Okla. There also remain to mourn the departure of Grandpa McComas 35 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren besides a great host of neighbors and friends. Of his own brothers only two survive, the youngest Hiram McComas of Platte City, Mo and the oldest Pembrook McComas now aged 92 or Edgerton, Mo. Five years ago all of the children of Father and Mother McComas came back home for a family reunion in honor of the golden wedding of their parents. Fiftyfive years of happy wedded life before death claimed one of the partners. But the angel of death must enter every home, and we should be ready to welcome him as the winged messenger of relief for our loved ones in their suffering. Brother McComas was baptized in the Methodist Church in childhood. He was a good neighbor and a great lover of his family and his home. he loved to gather his children about him; and could always be counted on as the life of the party on these cherished occasions. To the family, on this Christmas day we say: "Look you to the birth of Jesus-God becoming a man, to walk talk and suffer with us, that we might sympathize and understand.
