Hiram and Mamie McComas had a son Claud McComas born 29 Nov 1880 and an adopted daughter Annie/Anna Louisa Shepard b.24 Aug 1884 MO who married Stephen Ernest Newman. Anna was adopted while just a toddler. Her mother had died giving birth in 1887 and her father 'took off' to Oregon and Canada. Anna (Shepard) Newman is buried in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Harrison Co. MS. FAG#59951769. She was linked to her biological parents.

Hiram McComas Dead
Hiram McComas, age 75 years, died at his home near Platte City Friday, October 30 1931. His death was sudden, resulting from heart disease, and he was found dead in his bed. He was a son of Burke and Nancy McComas and was a lifelong citizen of Platte County, except for a few years in Clay County. Mr. McComas was a man of many friends, a genial, gentlemanly man of many admirable traits of character, a citizen of integrity and worth. Mrs. McComas died about two years ago. He leaves one son Claude, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Shepard of Ratcliff, CA. Mr. McComas waas the last of 11 children. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Platte City Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev Ed L. Armstrong. It is an unusual incident that Mr. McComas was buried on his birthday. Burial was in the Platte City Cemetery under direction of S.A. McComas of Smithville, Mo.
