E.J. was the son of Joseph Edward Asay and Susan Sariah Johnson. He married a 1st cousin, Caroline Sophia Asay on June 11, 1928 in Grand Junction Colorado. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28, 1933. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1982. He later married Paea Falekalala Fiefia in February of 1983 in Farmington, Utah. E.J. was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He and Caroline served a mission to Porterdown, Ireland from 1963-1965. His word was as good as gold. He always hoped his posterity was an improvement over the old stock. E. J. Finally got dead! (his own words) on June 3, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was survived by his wife; children, Richard E. Asay and wife, Nancy, Milton D. Asay and wife, Deone, Jane A. Stewart, Rolan L. Asay and wife, Velma Jo, Enos D. Asay and wife, Lynda, Elvin D. Asay and wife, Kathy; and adopted children Johnny and Mary Asay; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Burns, Zane, Ervil Asay, and sister Georgia Nielsen. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one grandchild.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, June 6th 1996 at 12 Noon at the Winder 13th Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1250 East 4530 South in Murray, Utah. Family and Friends gathered for a Viewing on Wednesday night at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 South Highland Drive from 6:00-8:00 PM and at the Ward Chapel from 10:45 to 11:45 AM prior to the Services.
Graveside Services were held on Friday June 7th 1996 at 1:00 PM at the Georgetown City Cemetery in Cannonville Utah in the Asay Family Plot.
