Daughter of Alexander Beckstead and Catherine Lince

Emeline married John William Winward, 5 Aug 1854, South Jordan, Salt Lake, Utah

Children: John William Winward, Sarah Elizabeth Winward, Alexander Winward, Catherine Ocelia Winward, Araminta Winward, Lucy Ann Winward, Margaret Winward, Peter Winward, Samuel Eli Winward, Thomas Winward, Julia Victoria Winward, Lillian Estella Winward, Eliphlet Winward

Sarah's parents had become converts to the Mormon faith in Williamsburg, Canada, and had journeyed from Canada, by ox teams to DeWitt, Missouri, arriving there in the latter part of September, 1838. It was just at the time when the Saints were being persecuted and attacked by mobs on every hand, and after a time it became necessary for the family to escape from DeWitt area and move to Far West, where Sarah Elizabeth was born.

She came to Utah with her parents in 1849, and lived in the South Jordan area, along the Jordan River, being among the very first to live there. She and her family were always highly respected for service rendered to others and the community.
