Lucy Ann Beckstead was born March 15, 1835, in Williamsburg, Canada. She was the daughter of Alexander and Catherine Lince Beckstead. The family was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The decision to come to Utah was made but before Lucy Ann could complete the journey she had died on the way. She was buried by the trail on July 21, 1848. She was only thirteen years, four months and five days of age.
