19 Aug 2006: Anne C. Larney, 91, of the Woods at Cedar Run, Camp Hill, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2006 in Holy Spirit Hospital. She retired as Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Medical Corps and as a Platoon Leader at Camp Pickett, VA and Fort Knox, KY. She was the head nurse at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, CO, Germany, and Alaska; as well as head nurse of neurology and head nurse of NP at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC. Her assignment before retirement in 1971 was as supervising nurse of the out-patient and hospital at Dunham Army Hospital at Carlisle Barracks. Anne lived at Woods Retirement Center for ten years and continued being very caring and helpful to the residents there. She was born in Mount Union, PA and graduated from Mount Union High School, Windber Hospital of Nursing and Pitt College; attended American University of Washington, DC and USAFI and FGH, Denver, CO. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church; Retired Nurses Association; ROA; FROA; Commissioned Officers Club; Red Carpet Club; and American Legion. She is survived by her sister Betty Czekalski, from the Pittsburgh area; her niece Florence Galbraith; and her nephew Robert Hoffmaster, both of Harrisburg; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Larney in 1996, and nine sisters and brothers. Service by Good Shepherd Catholic Church Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Neill Funeral Home, Camp Hill.
