Vaslle Cucu of 601 North Division Street, Mount Union, died in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital at Huntingdon early this Saturday morning. October 9, 1954, at 11 o'clock. He was taken ill on Friday and was brought to the hospital the same evening about 7 o'clock.
Vasile Cucu was born in Roumania on April 12, 1878. and was a son of Morris Cucu and Anna (Idomir) Cucu. He was united in marriage to Elena Berley in Romania in 1904.
He came to America in 1906, and his wife came later in 1910. They have since resided in Mount Union. For a number of years Mr. Cucu operated a farm in Smith Valley. He retired fifteen years ago. He was a member of the Romanian Church and of the Romanian Society.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Helen Popa and Mrs. Mary Miduri, both of Mount Union; Larry Berley, of Media; Lieut. Anne Berlev in the U. S. Nurses' Corps and stationed at San Antonio. Texas; Mrs. Millie Donaldson, of Shirleysburg; Mrs. Elizabeth Czekalsi of Tarentum; Mrs. Verna Hoffmaster, of Harrisburg. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Annie Serbanuta, in Romania.
Funeral services will be held at the Clark funeral home in Mount Union on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. Murray Young, and interment will be made in the I. O. O. F. cemetery at Mount Union. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 o'clock Sunday evening.
