Mrs. Verna L. Sweger, 54, of 1108 Yverdon Drive, Wormleysburg, formerly of Mount Union, died Thursday, May 31, 1979, in the Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.

Born December 13, 1924, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vasile Cucu. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Mrs. Barbara Shope of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Mrs. Linda Bretz of Philadelphia; and Robert Hoffmaster of Harrisburg. Three grandchildren also survive. She is also survived by a brother and five sisters: Larry Berley of Media; Mrs. Millie Donaldson of Shirleysburg; Mrs. Betty Czekolski of Natrona Heights; Mrs. Elena Popa of Harrisburg; and Mrs. Mary Miduri and Mrs. Anna Larney, both of Camp Hill.

She was a 1942 graduate of Mount Union High School. She was a past worthy matron, Chapter 245, the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Bethany Shrine No. 7, the White Shrine of Jerusalem; Willard Court 54, Order of Amaranth; and the Ozemb Temple 52, Daughters of the Nile. Services were held in Harrisburg and interment was made in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
