OBIT: CAREY PIONEER WOMAN LAID TO REST ON MONDAY
Death came Saturday afternoon to one of Childress County's pioneer mothers who moved to Carey 25 years ago from Arkansas. Mrs. P. D. Parrish, 78, died of heart attack at her Carey home Saturday afternoon and funeral services were conducted in the Childress First Baptist church Monday afternoon Rev. W. H. Colson, pastor of the Childress church and Rev Wayne R. Williams, pastor to the Carey church, officiated at the services. Mrs. Parrish was a member of the Carey Baptist church.
She was born in Arkansas in March 1871. Surviving Mrs. Parrish are her husband, two sons, Carl Parrish of Carey, and Leo Parrish. Boulder, Colorado, a sister Mrs. J. W. Arnn, Denver: two brothers, A. N. Johnson, Abernathy, and W T. Johnson, Hale Center; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by a foster sister, Mrs. F. J. Springer, Kress.
Grandsons of the late Mrs. Parrish were her pallbearers and included W. D. Parrish, R. C Parrish, Clarence Parrish, Jessie Parish, Hershel Parrish, Lonnie Parrish and O. C. Hammitt. In charge of flowers at the funeral services wee her granddaughters, Mrs. W. D. Parrish, Mrs. R. C. Parrish, Mrs. Vaughn Parrish, Mrs. Clarence Parrish, Mrs. O. C. Hammitt, Miss Ada Fern Parrish and Miss Mary Ann Parrish
