OTTUMWA-James H. Sellwood Sr., 88, of Ottumwa, passed away June 5, 2016 at Pearl Valley Rehab & Nursing Center in Washington, IA.

He was born July 17, 1927 to Maley and Helen Myers Sellwood. He married Bonnie L. Brooks on February 28, 1959. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2006.

He had worked in construction and was a truck driver for Mayflower.

Surviving are three daughters, Marie Irene Johnson of Clinton , Leslie Dianne Starr and Stacey (Jose) Jimenez; two sons, James (Kimberly) Sellwood Jr. of Milton and Terry Sellwood of Ottumwa; a son-in-law, Henry Fiedler of Ottumwa; 10 grandchildren, Nate Coghill,, Samantha, Angela, Brittany, Rose, Greg, Rochelle, Shawna, Jake and Robert; 25 great-grandchildren; and a step sister, Alice Eaton of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimmie Fiedler; two grandsons, Zachary and Adam; three brothers, Charles “Bucky” Sellwood, Bob Bennett, Maley Sellwood Jr; three sisters, Edith Maxine Songer, Mabel Songer and Ollie Lanigan.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Fiedler officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
