Margarett V. Mayfield at the age of 92, went to be with the Lord Oct. 25, 2006, from the Sentara Nursing Center of Norfolk. She was an active member of Holland Road Baptist Church of Virginia Beach, enjoyed all aspects of life, and will be greatly missed by family and friends as she possessed a special, unselfish, unwavering kindred spirit and a special zest for life. Margarett outlived three sisters, Louise Giles, Isabelle Lilleboe and Virginia Bossie; and one brother, Willie Cahoon. Surviving are two loving sons, Robert T. Mayfield of Virginia Beach and Marson W. Morgan of Foley, Ala.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren from various parts of the country. She will be laid to eternal rest beside her beloved husband of 50 years, Clarence S. Mayfield, Saturday at 2 p.m. after a graveside service in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Altmeyer Funeral Home in Virginia Beach. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
