Hedwidge Marie (Pelletier) Chassé, buried under the name Edwidge, was born and raised in Lac Baker, New Brunswick, a daughter of Denis and Luce Pelletier. Little is known of Hedwidge's life — save for the fact that of the nine Pelletier children who grew to adulthood, she was the only one who never immigrated to the States.

In 1927, shortly before her 20th birthday, Hedwidge exchanged wedding vows with Napoléon 'Albert' Chassé, a young Frenchman who hailed from the neighboring village of Clair; and before long, the couple moved west into Témiscouata County, Québec. They first settled at St-Marc-du-Lac-Long but eventually moved north to St-Juste-du-Lac and then to Dégelis; and by the 1950s the family had moved clear across the province, establishing themselves in a newly developed area in northwestern Québec. Six hundred miles from Madawaska, Albert and Hedwidge settled in a small town called Amos, in Abitibi-Témiscamingu, where some of their children eventually married; but after Hedwidge passed away, the family migrated south to Saint-Jérôme de Terrebonne, a suburb of Montréal.

Hedwidge Chassé died in Amos in 1958, at age 50. Aside from her brother Thomas who died as a child, she was the first of the Pelletiers to pass away; and agewise, she was also the youngest. Hedwidge was buried on the 10th of March at the Cimetière de Ste-Thérèse-d'Avila; but when her husband died in 1971, he was laid to rest in St-Jérôme, where some of the Chassé grandchildren still reside.
