Cyrille Joseph Pelletier, born just after the turn of the century in Lac Baker, New Brunswick, Canada, was the eldest of Denis and Luce Pelletier's seven sons. He grew up in the village where he'd been born; and there in the spring of 1929, at age 25, he married a local girl (Julia Beaulieu) who was seven years his junior.
Just a month after the wedding, Cyrille's father passed away unexpectedly at age 58; and as the eldest son, Cyrille would have assumed responsibility for his mother's well-being (and that of his younger siblings too). Eventually, however, Cyrille and Julia emigrated from Canada to establish themselves in Connecticut.
As a middle-aged man, Cyrille became the custodian at Saint Francis Grammar School in Naugatuck, adjacent to the church; and like his younger brother Richard (who had become the superintendant at Saint James Cemetery), Cyrille lived with his wife in a parish-owned house — right behind the school on Church Street.
Widowed in 1968 at age 64, Cyrille survived his wife by ten years and passed away in September of 1978 at age 75. He was interred next to his wife at Saint James Cemetery in Naugatuck, in a plot adjacent to his brother Pat's.
Rest in peace, Cyrille. I'll always remember you from childhood as 'Mr. Pelletier'.
