Marie Antoinette was born in Matane, Québec, Canada, the second of eight and eldest daughter of Tiburce and Alma (Vaillancourt) Généreux. Her family immigrated to America in the winter of 1901-02, and in 1910 she married David L. Roy and had thriteen children: Gabrielle, David, Raymond, Yvonne, Joseph Arthur, Auguste, Normand, Thomas, Jeanne, André, Pauline, Jacqueline and Claudette. She would outlive her husband by almost thirty years, living between the homes of her daughter Jeanne and (most of the time) her eldest daughter, Gabrielle.
