David, baptisted Louis David Roy, was born in Fall River to André and Léonore (Hinton) Roy. He worked as a mill worker and, later, for the railway mail service. He married Marie Antoinette (Généreux) Roy in 1910, and had thirteen children: Gabrielle, David, Raymond, Yvonne, Joseph Arthur, Auguste, Normand, Thomas, Jeanne, André, Pauline, Jacqueline and Claudette. The family would move to Boston in 1939, where he would die under strange circumstances at Boston State Hospital, possibly the victim of abuse from another patient.
