Marvin Nowels Buried Today at Sunnyslope
Contractor Here Since 1902, Erected Many Buildings Here
Marvin M. Nowels, 86, passed away at his residence at 723 S. Victoria street in Corona last Friday. He was a long time resident of Corona, having come here in 1902 from Colorado Springs, and in the contracting and building business, constructed many of the earlier homes in Corona. He retired in 1946 due to failing health.
Mr. Nowels was born June 27, 1868, in Wolf Creek, Ohio. He is a veteran of the Spanish-American War and was a charter member of the Charles E. Dixon camp of the United Spanish War Veterans, of Corona; and also was a member of the Lt. Bedell Camp No. 28 of the same organization in Riverside. He was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church of Corona.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, at St. John's Episcopal church, with The Very Rev. E.A. Drake, rural dean of the Convocation of San Bernardino Episcopal Churches, officiating. Graveside military rites were in charge of the Lt. Bedell Camp No. 28 of United Spanish War Veterans of Riverside.
Acting as pall bearers were John Hardisty, John Key, Cecil Henson, Jack Williams, Al Richenberger and Benny Biggers.
Mr. Nowels is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary E. Nowels, of Corona; two brothers, J.P. Nowels of Warsaw, Ohio, and Truman Nowels, of Gresham, Neb.
Interment was made at the family plot at Sunnyslope Cemetery, under the direction of Bell-Thomas Mortuary.

Marvin Ozias Nowels
Marvin Ozias Nowels was born June 27, 1868 in Holmes County, Ohio, growing to manhood on the family farm.
Marvin, at various times in his life, worked in the building business, was a barber and was a ship's carpenter in the Merchant Marines. He served in the Spanish-American War.
Marvin married Mary V. Moore on April 29, 1901. They lived in Colorado Springs for a while in 1902. Apparently most of their married life was spent in California.
Most of the later years of Marvin and Mary Nowels were spent in Corona, California. They were members of St. John's Episcopal Church of Corona.
Marvin died September 13, 1954 at Corona at the age of 86 years.
