Sylvenus Nowels
Sylvenus Nowels was born January 11, 1872 near Killbuck, Ohio and grew up on the family farm in Holmes County, Ohio.
He went to Iowa as a young man and then went to Colorado to work with a surveying crew planning for a diverson dam in the Colorado River. He purchased land near Grand Junction, Colorado from the U.S. Government and developed 30 acres in orchards, motly peaches but some apples and pears.
Sylvenus left Colorado shortly after 1941, moving to Hicksville, Ohio and purchased land there. He farmed in the Hicksville area until his death.
He was married December 13, 1948 to a widow, Mrs. Susie Brantley. He died January 24, 1949.
