GLASTONBURY - Alta M. (LaBrack) Sibiga, 96, formerly of Wallingford, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Glastonbury. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond J. Sibiga Sr.
Alta was born in Starks, Maine, Feb. 1, 1919, a daughter of the late Louie LaBrack and Audrey Withington LaBrack and was raised in South Ashburnham, Mass., before becoming a Wallingford resident. She was an active parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church, and was also involved with the yearly pierogi making for the parish. Alta was a member of the American Legion, Siedlicki Post 187 Women's Auxillary.
Alta is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosamond and Dale Brodeur, of Wilmington, N.C., Monica and Gary Smith, of East Hampton, and Sophie and Ralph Tagliatela, of Carolina Beach, N.C.; her five sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond J. Jr., and Sheila Sibiga, of Seven Lakes, N.C., Michael and Susan Sibiga, of Ashford, Martin and Christina Sibiga, of Kure Beach, N.C., David and JoAnne Sibiga, of Ashford, and Paul and Kim Sibiga, of Marlborough; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Alta is the last of 13 children to be laid to rest.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale and Right at Home Caregivers for their compassion and support these last nine months.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Friday, Dec. 11, from 9 until 10:30 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to SS. Peter and Paul Church, 139 N. Orchard St., Wallingford, CT. 06492, or to the charity of one's choice .

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Saints Peter & Paul Church in Wallingford officiated by the Rev. Ronald P. Zepecki. Members of the SS. Peter and Paul Ladies Guild formed an honor guard. The pallbearers were: her sons, David, Martin, Michael, Raymond and Paul Sibiga; and her son-in-law, Dale Brodeur.
