SOUTH ASHBURNHAM — Althea Ruby Shea, 93, of South Ashburnham, died Wednesday, October 15, in Wachusett Manor.
She was born February 22, 1921 in Ashburnham, daughter of the late Louie and Audrey (Withington) LaBrack. She lived in South Ashburnham all of her life and for the past three years had resided at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home.
She leaves her son, John M. Shea and his wife Mary; a daughter, Judy Hamilton and her partner, Ed Krieger and daughter in law, Tina Shea. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Dennis, Kerry, Randy, and Timmy Shea, Melanie Flanders, Amber Wersal, and Ashley Hamilton; 11 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. Althea was one of 12 children and is survived by her sisters, Alta Sibiga and Bette Ann How; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband, John F. Shea and her son, Paul Lee Shea.
Althea had been a member of Peoples Evangelical Congregational Church in Ashburnham for over 90 years serving as an organist, in the choir, and on the Ladies Aid Committee.
She was a matron at the John R. Briggs School for many years. She enjoyed bingo, spending time with her family, and camping.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday, October 21, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with the funeral following at 11:00 AM in Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. There will be a small gathering after the service at Peoples Congregational Church, S. Main St. S. Ashburnham. Burial will be private.
