Martha was the 10th child (6th daughter) to Antony & Helen McElroy. She spent her childhood at her parents home in Monbulla SA. She became a wonderful seamstress for the family & made all clothes (apart from the boots).
In 1911 she married Archibald Malcolm. They purchased land opposite her parents and called it 'Springfield' after her maternal grandmothers original home in Scotland. Together they had 7 children (the youngest - Kathleen - born in 1927 and outlived all her siblings. Passing away aged 94). Kathleen never married but lived in "Springfield" until 2019 when she was moved to Pinchunga Nursing Home in Penola.
Martha lived through 2 of her sons going to war (and thankfully returning) and many hardships. She loved gardening. She died at the age of 83 in 1969 & is buried with her husband at the Old Penola Cemetery.
