Sheldon Burton was conditionally mustered as 2nd lieutenant, 8th California Infantry, November 23, 1864, for recruiting purposes, he was commissioned captain January 30 and mustered in Company I, 8th California Infantry, at San Francisco, California, February 6, 1865. Captain Burton was discharged at Port Point, San Francisco, October 24, 1865.
Sheldon Barton, age 39 years, was enumerated June 1, 1880, at Sierra Valley, Sierra County, California, with Victoria Barton 26 Wife, Sheldon J. Barton 9 Son, Annie Barton 5 Daughter, Estelle Barton 1 Daughter.
Captain Burton Dead.
Captain S. T. Burton, for many years proprietor of the Webber Lake summer resort, died at that place yesterday after a brief Illness. He was up and around, however, the day before his death. Heart failure to given as the cause of his death.
