Avelina R. Archuleta, 99, was deceased on May 26, 2006 in El Paso, Texas. She was born May 11, 1907 in Pasamonte, N.M., to Santiago and Raquel Romero. She was a resident of Maxwell for more than 70 years and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Maxwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband Salomon Archuleta and son Salomon Archuleta Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Delia Archuleta, currently residing in El Paso, Texas, and Aurora (Rosie) Lopez of Kansas City, Mo.; Eight grandchildren: Virginia Lax, Richard Lopez, and Rosella Haway of Albuquerque; Alfred D. Lopez and Raymond Lopez of Trinidad; John Lopez and David Archuleta of Kansas City, Mo.; Denise Archuleta Bernal of El Paso. Additionally, survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters; Virginia Padilla, Beatrice Cruz, and Rachel Herrera of Albuquerque, and Frances Chavez of Maxwell.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary, led by Mr. Leroy Quintana, was held at the Garcia Funeral Home main chapel in Albuquerque. The funeral Mass was held at the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, of Maxwell with Father DePalma as the celebrant. Interment followed at the Maxwell Cemetery.

Avelina was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. She is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
