Virginia F. Padilla, 92, was released to the Lord on Thursday. She was a Proverbs 31 woman who enjoyed hobbies such as ceramics, sewing, and reading. She also loved breakfast picnics in the mountains and other adventures with her husband and children. Granny Cottontail, "Mombo" will be missed! Her life was an example and an inspiration to those she encountered. She gave to others more than she gave to herself and asked for and expected nothing in return. Mrs. Padilla was preceded in death by her husband, Joe F. Padilla Sr. and her parents: Santiago and Raquel Romero. She is survived by her sisters: Frances and husband, Roderico Chavez and Rachel Herrera; daughters: Cecilia Olmstead, Maggie Lucero, Dolores Gonzales, Theresa Smith and husband, Tony; Lydia Montoya and husband, Joe; Maria (Gina) Bethea, Fran Amato and husband, John; and son: Joe Frank Padilla and wife, Barbie; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Eric Olmstead, Ernest Lucero, Matias Garcia, Anthony Parello, Joey Montoya, Andre Robinson, Dominic Amato and Francisco Padilla.
