WINNECONNE -- George Oura Benedict, 62, a lifelong resident of Butte des Morts, died Saturday at Avondale, Ariz., of a heart attack. He and his wife had gone to Arizona for the winter season.
Mr. Benedict was born in Butte des Morts, June 30, 1897, and in his earlier years did trapping in the area. He was employed for many years by Waite Carpet Co. in Oshkosh until 11 years ago, when poor health forced a semi invalid retirement. The Benedict's had gone to Arizona two months ago.
Survivors are his wife, Isabell; daughters, Mrs Roy Dean, Buckeye, Ariz., and Miss Victoria Benedict, at home; sons George Jr., Goodyear, Ariz., and Arthur, Avondale, Ariz.; sisters Mrs Norman Perry, Butte des Morts, Mrs. Lavina Schneider, Oshkosh, Mrs. Ren Starke, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Earl Andrews, Two Rivers, and brothers Cyrus and Raymond, Butte des Morts and Warren of Oshkosh. Two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services have been tentatively set at Mueller Funeral Home here at 2 p.m. Thursday, pending arrival of the body from Arizona. The Rev Kenneth Craig will officiate, with burial in Lakeview Memorial Park at Oshkosh.
