Mrs. Fannie Cope Dies Saturday
Mrs. Fannie Douglas Cope, widow of Perry Cope, died at a local sanitarium
Saturday morning at 2:25 o'clock following a brief illness. She was 81 years of
age.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the New Union
Church with J.B. Patton, of Cookeville, officiating. Burial was in the Union
cemetery.
Mrs. Cope, native of White county, was born June 28, 1869. Her parents were
Harmon Lee Jones and Lucy White Jones and she was married to Mr. Cope in January
1888. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors are five sons, Esten Cope, Rock Island; Norman Cope, Upton, Ky.,
Orville Cope, Atlanta, Ga., Gentry Cope, Rock Island, Lively Cope, Morgantown,
N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Effie Vaughn, McMinnville; two sisters, Mrs. J.A.
Roberts, McMinnville, and Mrs. A. Cope, Belk, Dekalb county. Also two brothers,
John and Wayman Jones, both of Sparta.
Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.
