Hays -- LuVerna M. Schulte, 71, died Nov. 19, 2000, at Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony Campus.
She was born Dec. 13, 1928, at Emmeram, the daughter of Ambrose and Adelia Dreiling Brungardt.
A longtime Victoria resident, moving to Hays in 1993, she was a homemaker and a seamstress for Myrna's, Victoria. She belonged to St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays, and Victoria Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
On Feb. 2, 1948, she married Robert Schulte at Emmeram. He died April 15, 1989.
Survivors include: two sons, Clair and Clyde, both of Wichita; two daughters, Cynthia Schulte and Carla Meier, both of Hays; two brothers, Gilbert Brungardt, Timonium, Md., and Paul Brungardt, Victoria; five sisters, Sister Valeria Brungardt C.S.A., Fon du Lac, Wis., Cecelia Brungardt, Victoria, Yvonne Braun and Patt [cq] Schmidt, both of Hays, and Ruth Polifka, Catherine; and five grandchildren.
A Sisters of St. Agnes prayer service will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday followed by a Victoria VFW Auxiliary memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, both at the mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays, with Fathers Michael Suchnicki and Bill Surmeier presiding. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, all at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.
Memorials may be sent to Hays Medical Center Oncology Unit or for Masses, both in care of the mortuary.
