Anne was born in Kimball, Minnesota, on March 26, 1909, the daughter of Frank and Frances [Mayer] Hammer. As a young girl Anne moved to Alexandria, where she attended grade and high school, graduating in 1926 from Alexandria High School. After graduation she began working in retail sales at a clothing store on 8th and Broadway and in various places in Minnesota, and helping care for her parents. Anne concluded her working career at the same location on 8th and Broadway as manager of Bon Jos. She was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society, and Daughters of Isabella.
Anne died on Tuesday, March 27, 1990 at the Douglas County Hospital.
She is survived by one brother and sister in law, Tony and Vella Hammer of Alexandria; two sisters: Helen Peterson of Alexandria; Margaret and husband Jesse Hedlund of Alexandria; three sisters in law: Helen, Mathilda and Elsie Hammer, all of Alexandria; and also by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday March 30 1990 at 11:30 am at St Mary's Catholic Church with Father Al Ludwig officiating. The soloist was Carol Hughes and the organist was Lynn Lynch.
Pallbearers were Don Mayer, Paul Johnson, Tony Schneiderhan, Frank Hammer, Michael Hammer and Donald Hedlund.
Interment was at the St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria.
