Ruby J. Wingate, 91, a longtime resident of Crystal Lake died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Sunrise Senior Living in Johns Creek, Georgia. She was born on September 16, 1920 in Kennard, Nebraska to August H. Japp and Emma Japp. She graduated from Kennard High School. She was married to LeRoy A. Wingate and moved to Crystal Lake. She resided in Crystal Lake until 2007, when she moved to Johns Creek, Georgia to be closer to her daughter. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, stamp collecting, and was an avid Canasta player. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Art) Miller of Georgia; grandchildren, Stephen Shepard and Stephanie Shepard of California, Theresa Hilton of Wisconsin, Michael Rycek and Dan Rycek of Arizona; great-grandchildren, Andrew, John, Sherry, Riley, Avery Shepard, Michael Martin, Cassandra Shepard, and Roxann Jones of California, Marcella Hilton-DeVincent of Chicago, Anthony Steck of Texas, and Serenity and Anthony Rycek of Arizonia; great-great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ethan, and Laila Shepard of California, and Hailey Prendergast of Chicago; and her twin sister Carrie Ensign of Crystal Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Susan Elaine Rycek, nine brothers, and four sisters. Services will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home.
