Lester Japp, 79, of Kennard, died Friday, March 1, 2001 at the Tekamah Nursing Center in Tekamah.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6.

Lester Japp was born Jan. 21, 1922 at Kennard to August and Emma (Schmuck) Japp. He graduated from Kennard High School in 1939. He lived and farmed near Kennard most of his life. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He is survived by three sisters and one brother, Carrie Ensign and Ruby Wingate, both of Crystal Lake, Ill., Elsie Thies of Joplin, Mo., and August Japp of Grand Island, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
