Joaquin "Jack" F. Martin died Dec. 5, 1990, in Fortuna at age 70. A native of Ferndale, he was a lifelong resident of Port Kenyon (Ferndale).
He was a self-employed dairyman (sic) in Ferndale for most of his working life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of I.D.E.S. Lodge and S.E.S. Lodge of Ferndale. He was also a member of the Stuart Macklin Post of the American Legion and the Kenneth Rasmussen Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Ferndale. He was a longtime member of Assumption Catholic Church of Ferndale.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Virginia E. Martin of Ferndale; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rita E . Martin of Redding and Janet and Robert Reed of Ferndale; his sisters, Mary Oliviera of Rohnerville, Olivia Smith of Lone Pine, Evelyn Chism of Rohnerville and Aurora Ingersol(sic) of Fortuna, and two grandchildren, Jamie and Evan Reed of Ferndale. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Rasella.
Friends are invited to attend the recitation of the rosary Friday, Dec. 7, 1990, at 8 P.M. at Chapel of the Ferns Citizens Mortuary, Ferndale. Friends may assemble at the chapel Saturday at 9:30 A.M. thence to Assumption Catholic Church Ferndale, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. with the Rev. Denis Doyle as celebrant. Concluding services will be at Sunrise Cemetery, Fortuna.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Ferns-Citizens Mortuary Ferndale, where friends may call today from 7 to 9 P.M. and Friday from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Humboldt, P.O. Box 3611, Eureka 95502, or to a favorite charity.
