H.D. KEONECKE IS DEAD AT 74

H. D. [Henry Dietrick] Koenecke, a resident of Martin County 46 years, died at 7:15 a.m. today at this home in Ceylon after a long illness incident to age. He would have been 75 in August.

Mr. Koenecke leaves a wife and eleven children. Two other children preceded him in death.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon, at 1:30 from the house and at 2 o’clock from Our Savior’s Lutheran church, Ceylon, Rev. P.O. Mueller of Dunnell in charge.

Mr. Koenecke was born in Hanover, Germany, and when 14 years old came to the United States. He was 29 when he came to Martin County, settling in Lake Fremont [Township] in the German settlement from Illinois. He acquired a handsome farm of 320 acres in section 32, Lake Fremont, which is still in the family. Of late years he has resided in Ceylon.

The children are George and Mrs. Leonard Forstrom, Fairmont; Fred, Herman, Mrs. Alma Nelson, Mrs. Elizabeth Moltzen, all of Ceylon; Ella, at home; E. F. Koenecke and Mrs. Emma Pannell, Estherville; Henry and Frank of Lake Fremont. (Fairmont Sentinel, Fairmont, MN, March 28, 1934)
