Peter Eulberg, 84, one of Alton’s most highly regarded senior citizens, died at his home Saturday July 8th.
For 74 years he lived in the same house where he came with his parents and family in 1887. He was president and manger for West Iowa Telephone of Remsen for 28 years and retiring 20 years ago.
Mr. Eulberg was a member of the Knights of Columbus and in his younger years sng in St. Mary’s Choir. He was widely known for his business acumen, his friendly smile and kindly disposition and was a model husband and father.
Mr. Eulburg was born January 10, 1877 at Springbrook, Iowa, coming to Alton in 1877. He married Josepha Wiltgen August 12, 1903 at Granville.
Survivors include the widow; five daughters, Miss Marie and Mrs. Art Braun, both of Alton, Sister Mary Auxilia of Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Miss Eulalia of Los Angeles and Sister Mary Thomas of Dyersville, Iowa; two sons, Lee of Skokie, Illinois and Gerold of Wayne, Nebraska; three brothers, Joseph of Alton, Herman of Dupree, South Dakota, and Adam in California; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Theodore in infancy and Vincent five years ago.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here Wednesday morning. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
