He served in the US Army from 1941 until 1972 and was stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI, on December 7, 1941. Among his military awards and decorations were the Silver Star; Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal with OLC; and Air Medal.
He was survived by his wife Mary Teresa Whelan Schadd; and his daughter.
A funeral service was held on September 17, 2014, at Falcons Landing. Interment on January 21, 2015.
