She grew up on Parrett Mountain. She attended Rex Hill School and Newberg High School. She attended Oregon State University, and after took advanced studies in dietetics at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was a registered dietitian for more than 50 years and worked in hospitals from Tacoma to Portland and Coos Bay to Jacksonville, NC. She lived with her husband, Tom, in Edgewood, WA, for 23 years. She was an avid gardener, and along with her husband was a member of the Tacoma chapter of the American Rhododendron Society. Survivors include: brothers, Carl of Virginia, and Larry, Walter and Stanley of Oregon; son Stan of Austin, Texas, sister Edna of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her son, Scott.
