Private family services were held for Gilbert T. Schaad, 86, who died April 12, 1996 in Portland. He had been a resident of Aurora since 1946.

Mr. Schaad was born May 18, 1909, in Newberg where he was raised and educated. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He had worked in construction for many years, retiring in 1975.

He is survived by his sons, Paul of Portland, and John of Eugene; brothers, Stan and Larry, both of Aurora, Walter of Newberg, and Carl of McLean, Va.; sisters, Elsie Schaad of Newberg, Edna Hightower of Eatonville, Wash., and Bernice Werth of Puyallup, Wash.; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife, Esther, whom he married in 1945, died in 1993.

Burial was in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
