John Jay died at his home near Mattie on Sunday, October 18, aged 71 years, 11 months and 16 days. He is survived by his wife and several children. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Mt. Union Church, conducted by Rev. Foor. Interment in the cemetery adjoining.
