Mrs. Sarah Smith.

Sara Smith, wife of Neri Smith, of Maryland, died at her home on December 19, 1903, aged 53 years and 3 days, of heart disease after an illness of several weeks.

She was the daughter of Samuel Jay, who died in 1883 and who was the father of 21 children, she being a child by his first wife.

The deceased is survived by a husband and nine children, 2 sisters, Mrs. Nancy Ship[ley], Pine Grove, Md., and Mrs. Eliza Barnes, of Piney Creek, and five brothers, namely, David Jay, Thomas Jay, Piney Creek, James Jay, Purcell, John Jay, near Everett, and Barton Jay, of Piney Creek.

She was buried on Monday, December 21st at Fairview cemetery. The services were conducted by Elder John Bennett of the Brethren church.
