OBITUARY :
DONALD R. "DICK" PROVARD, 88, of Fayetteville died at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, in his home surrounded by family. He had been in declining health for the past two years.

Born May 4, 1928 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Cleveland and Clara (Wagaman) Provard.

He and Anna "Betty" (Wagaman) were married Feb. 2, 1946 in Hagerstown. After her death, he and Virginia "Ginny" (Phillips) were married Dec. 11, 1999 at Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church.

Mr. Provard attended Quincy and Waynesboro schools. He retired from West Penn Power Co. in 1987 after over 30 years of service.

Mr. Provard was a member of Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church where he served in various capacities including Deacon Board. He was a singer/songwriter and founding member of the Singing Inspirations, a gospel group that sang throughout the East Coast, Ohio and Canada for over 30 years. He also traveled extensively in Europe, England, and Ireland with his wife Ginny.

In addition to his wife, Ginny, he is survived by two sons, Donald "Rick" Provard (Christine) of Mentor, OH, and Steven Provard (Melissa) of Atlanta, GA; step son Mark Phillips (Bonnie) of Fayetteville; step daughters Elizabeth "Betsy" Danek (Tom) of Charlottesville, VA, and Karen Phillips of Asheville, NC; 6 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd "Sonny" Provard; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to this parents and wife Betty, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in law, Shyrl (Eigenbrode) Provard; one grandson, Mark Jason Provard; one step granddaughter Sarah Scherer; one great granddaughter Stephanie Lomaz-Provard; three sisters, Rosalie Beeler, Dorothy Verdier, and Sylvia Bumbaugh; three brothers, Ray Provard, Robert Provard, and Gerald Provard.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 7, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro. Rev. Ray Kipe will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Deacon Fund at the Five Forks Brethren In Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
