Doreatha A. (Provard) Verdier, 86, a resident of The Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA, and formerly of 10555 Lot 18-C Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, died at 1:50 A.M., Saturday, June 27, 2009, in the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past year.
Born January 15, 1923 in Fairview, PA, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland L. and Clara B. (Wagaman) Provard. She lived her early life in the Fairview area.
Mrs. Verdier attended Quincy High School.
She and her husband, the late Howard E. Verdier, were married on June 16, 1939 in Hagerstown, MD. They lived most of their lives in the South Mountain, PA area. Mr. Verdier died on September 21, 2000. Mrs. Verdier moved to Lincoln Way East in March of 2001.
Mrs. Verdier was a homemaker most of her life.
She attended services at New Baltimore Church of God, South Mountain.
She is survived by three brothers, Gerald M. Provard of Fox Hill, PA, Donald R. Provard of Fayetteville, and Lloyd L. Provard of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Darwin B. Verdier, who died on April 29, 1995; two sisters, Sylvia Bumbaugh and Roslie Beeler; two brothers, Ray C. Provard and Robert Provard; and her half brother, Earl Blubaugh.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Father Joseph C. Carolin, officiating. Burial will follow in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.
