He followed the family pattern and began working in the paper mill there. At the age of about 24 he married Martha Lambrecht and two children were born of that union. By 1930, he was divorced from Martha and his children were living with him. Martha died in Jun 1934 in Wisconsin.
About 1950 he remarried Esther Nuss Kinnard, and they lived in the Green Bay area.
