James N. Alters, 84, of Millheim, died at his home on Saturday at 11 a.m.Born in Haines Township, May 10, 1884. he was the son of Samuel and Harriet Stover Alters. He was married March 17, 1908, to Hattie Shawver, who survives with these children:
Elmer, Richard, Leon and Jay Alters and Mrs. Miles Snyder, all of Spring Mills RD 2; Ralph Alters, Aaronsburg; Mrs. Paul Jr., Millheim. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A retired farmer, he was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Spring Mills.
Funeral services will be held at the Neff Funeral Home, Millheim, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Geraldine Shawda officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Millheim. Friends will be received at the Neff Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
